In general, I think that the photographs I have taken came out very well. I think this because of a couple of reasons. Firstly, I took photographs of the genre I specified earlier in the project on my blog. Also, I am very happy with the quality of the photographs I have taken and that they didn't not require any editing to be done to them. However, despite being happy with the photographs which I have taken, I am aware that they were not taken in the location(s) that I specified in my intinery.
After making a contact sheet containing the fifty photographs that I have taken, I have chosen the five photographs which I consider to be the best.
One of my five favourite landscape images is of a purple sunset. This image was taken whilst on a family holiday to Florida, USA. The image was taken during the last minutes of sunlight for the day which is why the colours are so vibrant. The colours give off a relaxed mood, mainly due to the variety of purple shades in the photograph. As well as this, the reflection on the calm waters of the lake emphasises to mood of the photograph. I like how there is a leave from a palm tree which has crept into the top right corner because it give the photograph a small amount of form and shows how far away the sunset is away from the lens.
The second of my favourite photographs is of the view in one direction from the top of Mt. Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. The picture was taken at around 7:00am, just after sunrise so which is why the sky is so bright. The large amount of blue in the photograph gives the image a very relaxed/chilled mood which effects the audience. The form of this image allows the beauty of the perfect blue sky and the peaks of different mountains to be presented.
The next photograph from my favourite five is of bridge and large ball which was taken at Disney, Epcot in Florida, USA. Personally, this is my favourite photograph of the five I have chosen. This is because of how clear the reflection is on the calm waters of the lake. As well as this, I like the contrast between the man made bridge and large ball at the green grass and trees. I think that without the reflection on the lake, this photograph would not have the same effect on the audience. The mood within the photograph is very calm and relaxed, due to the reflection on the clear, calm water.
Another one of my five favourite photos is a photograph taken from a high point in the valley of Toubkal National Park whilst I was there on an expedition to the top of Mt. Toubkal. There is a couple of reasons why I like the photograph. Firstly, I think it just looks nice in general. It is an easy photograph to look at and shows a very small part of the natural beauty of which our planet has to show. This is emphasised by the lack of bright colours, excluding the sky. despite the large amount of different shades of brown, the photograph hasn't become ugly, unlike a lot of photographs that contain a lot of browns.
The final photograph of my five favourites is of the peak of a small mountain in the shade with the bright blue sky and the small moon in the background. I like this photograph because of the contrast between the brown shaded areas and the bright blue of the sky. I also like how you can see the distinct difference between the shaded area and the light area. As well as this, I like the different leaves in both of the bottom corners of the photograph. The mood within the image is, in my opinion, quite neutral however people seeing the photograph for the first time may say that they find it easy to look at and generally quite relaxing.
After looking at my five favourite photographs in a bit of depth, I have noticed a few links between them (which is not just the fact that they all fit into the genre of landscape which was mentioned in my statement of intent). All of my photographs have a very relaxed sort of mood about them however, the five photographs were only taken in two locations. When I was at the locations, there was a very similar atmosphere to what is portrayed in the photographs which I feel is down to how I took the photographs in the first place. I did not go out with the intention of taken any of these photographs specifically, but I had my eyes open to see if I would come across any good locations for a landscape photograph which I feel was generally quite successful.
